Why not introduce yourself - tell us a bit more about yourself and about your interest in ending violence against women and being part of VDay 2009, whether you're an aspiring actor, an audience member or a girlie man...
And don't forget to tell everyone you know - invite your friends...
I have recently joined and added a rant of my own to the girlie-man debate, in response to writings from my friend and colleague Paul Samuel Harris...we were once Austrian duelling buddies (long story...) and i think this site is marvellous. I am an actor and would LOVE to perform as part of V-Day, i've been a strident feminist forever and have received much opposition, cynicism and degradation for this, particularly from women. It is nice to find an intelligent and thoughtful place to share ideas that we all know to be based in truth.
I'M A GIRLIE-MAN!! And proud.
Hello everyone...lets have a marvellous time

I know why I'm here!! Power, energy and consciousness!
Eve's workshop in London yesterday was truly inspiring and the momentum for change has started. Thanks to Annie for introducing us and getting me along.
I attended Annie's in early January 2008 in the initial stages of the MMRP and auditioned for the performance. Unfortunately my involvement didn't continue with that production and I wasn't in London to see your performances and be part of it. So, this year I decided no more time to sit around and I want to be part of VDay London in any way shape or form. Yes, I can change shapes!
I am an actress (not sure about the aspiring bit though I am inspired) and I have experience of working in television production. I'm currently rehearsing a play which is based around Suicides - do come - it will be a laugh !?! Work wise I do a bit of TV production and other temping jobs to keep me going.
I live in Peckham - it rocks! It's a fab, energising, characterful place to be and know that I know a certain Missy lives here, hopefully we can encourage more Peckham devotees!
In the meantime after yesterday's workshop I'm going to speak to a few people to see if I can get a documentary off the ground about Eve's work in the Congo. It would be great to think more awareness could be brought through the media. I looked on the UN website last night, and they put in $1billion of resources to the DR Congo and have more staff there than any other country. Doesn't that speak volumes about the problem. Let alone what Eve talked about.
I am an actor and activist who produced a production of The Vagina Monologues for V-Day 2005. I would love to be involved in V-Day 2009 ( acting / actvism / production). (email playfoalis@aol.com.) I have worked with The Helen Bamber Foundation before on The Journey (www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GapFtahwm0)
I have applied for the New Players Theatre show through Casting Call Pro.
Hi there!
I have been looking for a site like this for a long time, somewhere where poeople are free to express themselves on such serious issues as are being raised.I am a drama student and find that the times when I have brought up the issues of feminism, stopping violence against women etc, i have been made to feel like a bit of a pain for getting "all serious"....even when me and my friends have been discussing politics. I think a lot of people are intimidated by the idea of discussing issues surrounding women, and would rather avoid it altogether. But these are such vital issues which need to be talked about! The Vagina Monologues is a terrific play, i didn' see it but read it, and was amazed by Eve Ensler's ability to shake me to my core bu also at times make me laugh...what a talented woman. I wish I could write a play like that! hm....oh well! I have read quite a bit of feminist literature, some of which totally inspired me and some of which I put down feeling a tad scared to leave the house again ;) I am so pleased to have found you guys! I would be really eager to participate in any events, or help out (always up for a bit of acting or directing if needed!)
I also make great tea :)
